Privacy Policy

Miraaj is built to be a sanctuary — quiet, private, and free of the mechanisms that mine attention. This policy explains, in plain language, what data the app touches, why, and what we will never do with it.

Miraaj (the “App”) is operated by Erdinc Dikici (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the App you agree to the practices described here.

1. Data stored on your device

The heart of Miraaj lives on your device. The following is stored locally and is not transmitted to us:

• Your display name and chosen avatar.
• Your prayer records, dhikr counts, streaks, maqam (XP) progress, and Mizan reckonings.
• Saved verses, bookmarks, notes, highlights, and saved readings.
• Your preferences (appearance, calculation method, notification toggles, sealed-app selection).

This data lives on your device. Deleting the App removes it. We have no servers that hold your spiritual history.

iCloud backup

So your progress survives a new phone, a small summary of this data (such as streaks, maqam progress, and preferences) can be backed up through your own private iCloud account using Apple’s iCloud Key-Value storage. This backup is handled entirely by Apple and is tied to your Apple ID — it never reaches our servers. You can disable it in your device’s iCloud settings, and the App works fully without it.

2. Location

With your permission, the App uses your approximate location for two purposes only:

• Prayer times — to calculate accurate times for your area.
• Qibla direction — to point you toward the Ka’bah.

Prayer times are computed on your device or requested from the Aladhan prayer-times service using your coordinates. We do not store your location on our servers, and we never use it for advertising or tracking. You can revoke location access at any time in your device’s Settings — the App falls back to manual or cached times.

3. App Shielding (Screen Time)

The “seal” feature uses Apple’s Family Controls / Screen Time framework to silence apps you choose during prayer. Apple processes this entirely on your device using opaque tokens — we never see which apps you select, and that information never leaves your device.

4. Purchases and subscriptions

Miraaj Premium is sold through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles your payment; we never receive your card details. To manage subscription entitlements (knowing whether your Premium access is active), we use RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated, pseudonymous app-user identifier and your purchase/receipt status from Apple. This is used solely to unlock the features you paid for and to support “Restore Purchases.”

5. Content delivery (Firebase)

Some study and contemplation content is delivered through Google Firebase. When the App fetches this content, Google may process standard technical data (such as IP address and device type) to deliver it securely. The core sacred content (Qur’an, Holy Calendar) is bundled in the App and needs no network request.

6. Ibn-i Arif (AI reflection)

When you send a message in the Ibn-i Arif conversation, the text of that message and recent conversation context are sent to Anthropic (the provider of the Claude AI model) to generate a response. These messages are processed to produce your reply and are not used to train models under Anthropic’s commercial terms. Please avoid sharing sensitive personal information in the conversation.

To keep this feature available and prevent abuse, requests are verified with Firebase App Check (which confirms the request comes from the genuine Miraaj app), and a daily rate limit is applied. For that limit your IP address is converted into a one-way SHA-256 hash before it is counted — your raw IP address is never stored.

7. What we do not do

• No third-party advertising networks.
• No sale or trade of personal data.
• No cross-app tracking for advertising.
• No selling of access to core worship features.

8. Children

Miraaj is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Security

We rely on Apple’s platform protections and the security practices of the reputable services named above. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but because most of your data never leaves your device, your exposure is minimal by design.

10. Your choices

• Revoke location, notification, or Screen Time permissions in device Settings at any time.
• Delete the App to erase all locally stored data.
• Contact us to ask what limited data our service providers may hold.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised policy.
